I have to disagree on the spare,my friends 83 Lotus DOES have a full size spare in his trunk..it is NOT a Donut spare. Also i am going by my experience in Dissecting deloreans apart the frame is a very mild steel and very thin at that!! The epoxy coating makes the frame look very thick, but you would be shocked at the thin Gage material that was used !!...in fact in some areas it is less than the thickness of a Dime!! the A-arms were engineered to a very minimal standard, the rear trailing arms were very poorly engineered,The wiring was poorly engineered, almost every electrical Motor that operates something in the Delorean were of sub-par standards, even the taillight circuit boards were faulty from day one The AC was always a problem, including switches, the Cooling system was faulty from day one with all the tubes and Hoses, the water pump was NOT engineered to handle a rear engine car.The Fuel system was VERY poorly engineered,in more ways than one,all switches were very sub- par etc..and that is only the tip of the iceberg. To make it simple, you could count on one hand the things that were engineered correct on the Delorean by Lotus engineering. --- In dmcnews@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx, mike.griese@... wrote: > > Lotus did not "cripple" the DMC to keep it from competing with the > Esprit.
