[DML] craig W460 cassette mechanism

Has anyone ever identified what fails in the W460 to not allow the
cassette mechanism to accept a tape and start playing? The unit I have
here works perfectly on am/fm but will not accept a tape. In
researching  the list archives, it seems others have had the same
issue. I have obtained the service manual and traced the circuit. The
micro switches seem to be fine, but the damn thing won't take a tape
to save it's life. Anyone hints as to where to look?
