I just replaced my spark plugs, and the engine is not running as smoothly at any speed, I'm so unhappy I'm driving the wife's car. The old plugs seemed fine, but I had a fresh set, and while I had the manifold off it seemed like a fine time to go ahead and swap them. I took out Bosch platinums and put in champion platinums. I noted that the old plugs were gapped at .30, and I gapped the new ones at .26. I have 8.5mm wires that are 2 years old, a brand new cap and rotor, and I have tried running both my stock bosch and a spare petronix 40,000 volt coil. The hotter coil had no effect. From information on the web I'm seeing that different plug types and brands may have a dramatic impact on performance. I always though a plug was pretty much like any other these days, but I guess not. I have two year old injectors and no vacuum leaks - I'm pretty sure there are no problems there. One vendor will only sell the silver tipped plugs, another only has platinum and copper tipped available and has no silver. What are you guys running these days, and how is it working out? Also, I hope to change the plugs again by just removing the idle speed motor, but if I have to pull the intake off again, does anyone have the size of the 6 intake manifold o-rings?
