This may be a long shot, but . . . I've had a few batteries that I thought were long gone due to difficulty charging after being discharged a long time. What I learned a few years ago (by accident) is that by doing a slow charge for several days, there is a good chance that the battery will regain full charge (assuming the fluid levels are still OK). The chances of success are less if the battery has been moved because the lead is easily dropped off the plates (causing one or more cells to short).
