"My brakelights on VIN 1880 work when the ignition is turned off. The cutoff must be somewhere in between 1860 and 1880." Can you take a look under the dash near the steering column and the brake pedal. You may find a factory installed "jumper wire" with an inline fuse holder. For some reason I think they installed this jumper to make the brake lights hot all the time as a "work around". This is what I found on mine. After removing this jumper (originally thinking it had been installed by the previous owner) my car now only has brake lights with the key on.
