Jim, the father of wierd DeLorean conversions turning down a challenge? Actually a thought that occurred to me was to check out a BMW (Z4) electric Power Steering setup. The power unit is built right into the steering column, and the dimensions do not appear to be all that far off (sorry - no tape measure at the time). My guess is that in typical BMW fashion the controls are tightly integrated into the car's computer system so there would be a fair amount of detail work to figure out beyond just mounting it. And the power consumption is probably NOT insignificant. As an additional challenge, there's an airbag to figure out. . .
