No, that is not true. Search the archives, from the info I know, there were
seven Deloreans used in the movie (most real, others models), and four
Deloreans made into BTTF cars after the ride came out at both theme parks.
The cars they display are not really from the movie, just mock ups to
impress tourists. I am almost positive that one of the cars from the first
movie is in Steven Speilberg's hands, and the other real ones are kept in
storage, probably falling apart.
