Subject: DeLorean Movie/Documentary Update - FREE SHIPPING
First, I wanted to thank everyone who posted and sent the wonderful comments
about the DeLorean movie I've been selling. The kind words really meant a
lot, especially with the amount of work that went into licensing the movie
(and the work that's still going on with the producers of the film).
Second, I've received several emails from people asking me to put aside a
movie, so they can buy them at the DeLorean Car Show in Cleveland (to avoid
shipping costs). I really don't want to lug a ton of movies to Cleveland,
and I'd like everyone who wants a tape the ability to have it as soon as
possible. So, I'd like to offer anyone who is still interested in
purchasing the movie free shipping from now until June 15th. That's free
priority mail shipping with delivery confirmation anywhere in the United
States, so it's a pretty good deal, and it will save me a bunch of work next
week. I'll also ship airmail anywhere in Europe for a flat $5.50 until the
start of the convention.
The movie is really incredible, and worth being part of your DeLorean
collection. For more information about ordering the rare film, please visit
our order page at:
http://www.deloreanmovie.com/order.html
Ignore the shipping costs and make a reference to Ken Koncelik's DeLorean
Car Show for the shipping discount. Thanks, and see you in Cleveland!!

Subject: Re: Fuel Injection Roblem PART 2
Hi Chris,
You write "the frequency valve buzzes during warm up". In my understanding it
should buzz all the time. During warm up it is not possible to control the
mixture because the oxigen sensor only works correct at operatating temperature.
So, when the engine is still cold, the ECU provides the frequency valve with a
valve at witch this valve opens about 60% of the time. After warming up the ECU
goes over to control status and the frequency valve should be open about 45 to
55 % of the time.
Because you already replaced the oxigen sensor and because you can hear the
frequency valve during warm-up, I expect the problem to be in the ECU. Try to
find another D and swap the ECU models. See if the problem is now on the other D
and your is working fine.
Good luck,

All "1983" models were built in 1982. DMC Ltd. was placed in receivership in
February of 1982. The factory was shut down by the British government in
May of 1982. DMC filed for bankruptcy on October 25, 1982. Cars continued to
be assembled from June of 1982 until the last one was assembled on December 24,
1982 (Chassis #DD002014). Presumably all of the 1982's that were assembled
after May 31, 1982 were designated "1983" and none of those was assembled by
by the factory assembly workers. So it is very likely that many cars assembled
after May 31, 1982 could have had "two tone" interiors for the very reason Mark
has pointed out.

Subject: Warm start prob. - Not accumulator
Hi Folks,
I am now a proud owner of an 81 (~35,000 miles), and while I love
to drive it, it has been stranding me lately. It starts fine when
cold, but after I've been driving it a few miles, then turn it off
and
let it sit more than about two minutes, it won't start again. It
turns
over, but doesn't fire... it seems fuel starved. I have to let it
sit
for several hours before it is back in the mood to run. I read the
archives, and was pleased to find that others had solved this problem
by replacing the fuel accumulator, which I have now done. Then it
stranded me again, doing exactly the same thing. My mechanic (very
familiar with Ds, Haglin in Boulder, CO) says that the fuel line is
holding pressure VERY well (better than usual, apparently), so he
doesn't think there is any problem with the value in the fuel pump.
He's pulled the injectors, and they all appear to be working fine.
He's stumped, I'm stumped, I don't know what else to do. He's still
looking at it, but I thought that if anyone had any suggestions, I
would be pleased to hear them. Thanks to the contributors for a
great
list!

It sounds like you should preform two adjustments. Make sure the vacum
line to the modulator is hooked up correctly and not leaking.Adjust
the line pressure as per the manual and adjust the linkage to the
computer as per the manual. If this doesn't fix the problem then it
might be a faulty modulator. You could try to take it apart and clean
it and replace the "o" ring inside. Also make sure the downshift switch
is adjusted properly at the throttle spool and working(check with a
continuity meter).

Subject: [DML] Fuel Vent on Gas Tank!
I've followed the recent discussion here on the DML, regarding fuel
smell
inside the car.
Right now, on Ebay, there is a fuel tank for sale. In the description it
says, and I quote:
"Don't buy a new one because it will not have a fuel vent in it and your
car
will smell like gas."
Now, my question is this: Is there any difference in the DMC fuel tanks?
Does some fueltanks have a vent and some not? From what VIN did the
change
come? If the above statement is true, then I would guess that low VINs
have
the tanks with no fuel vent and higher VINs have the tanks with the
vent.
Based on the DMCs improvements during production.
Also, what Im curious about is that the statement seems to suggest that
all
NOS fuel tanks from the DMC suppliers are of the type that has no
vents???
Can someone clarify this?
James or DMC Joe?
Best wishes

Make sure that the 3 screws towards the back of the car are not the
ones you adjusted. It sounds like your problem is not in the injection
system. Start troubleshooting the idle motor circuit, check the idle
switch, power to the idle computer, etc.

I must disagree. It was really big news when JZD was arrested,
although I will grant that having "Film at 11" to go along with the
story certainly made it bigger news, if not more resilient. There's
no footage of misdeeds in the Oval Office, but it will still be some
time before people forget the name Monica Lewinsky (or G. Gordon
Liddy, for that matter).
I am at a loss to explain why so many people think JZD is still in
jail. His acquittal was big news, as well. It's almost like thinking
OJ is still in jail. Well, not quite, but you get the idea.
I will often overhear conversations about JZD still being imprisoned
when people see my parked DMC-12. I make a point of correcting them.
Ocassionally they will accuse me of being misinformed, which is when I
offer to show them *my* DMC that they're admiring. :-)

Several months ago my Delorean was caught in a small hail storm. Before the
storm hit I managed to get the car cover on (thick car cover designed to
prevent this kind of damage). But unfortunately the car still received some
damage. Mostly on the hood, which was already looking pretty shabby, and on
the T panel.
I couldn't get any of the local paintless dent guys to touch it. They all
said that the stainless was too strong and that all their tools were
designed for late model cars with thin sheet metal.
Anyway, a friend of mine used dry ice on the T panel and those dents are
hardly noticeable. But, they weren't very big to start with. And as far as
the hood goes I have decided to replace it. I'm just looking around for a
used hood with grooves in good shape. I don't like the look of the all flat
hoods.
I'm sure the DeLorean shops can repair the panels (I know they do in
Houston, anyway). Has anybody had this done? What were the results? Costs?
Etc?

The point is perhaps the JZD episode featured in the movie, has anyone on

At this time John has asked to do a question and answer session on Friday at

Saturday he will be at the Show wandering about like the rest of you and
probably taking in the sights.
He will be at the Saturday dinner but at this time there is no scheduled talk

Hello List,
I met a guy on Ebay that owned a DMC last year by accident, then I
foundout he lives about 15 minutes away. He came over in his DMC-12 to pick
up the item he won, last fall . He said I would have to come down and see
his other vehicles. well, I finally got the chance today.
I walked in and he had the first and last Bricklin sports cars ever made
up on hoiste in "carcoons". Both have extremely low miles and are 100%
original. I must say that these cars are very unique. He had everything
bricklin ever made. dealer signs and hundreds of pounds of
literature, brochures and magazines. He has all the original sketches and
even paintings painted by the designer. He even had a brick from the
bricklin factory signed by Malcom bricklin. I took pictures but I dont know
if they will turn out well becuase the cars were in the carcoons. He said
he
will sell them if he gets a good offer. I beleive he bought them from a
museum. I think a bricklin is going to be on my "future" car list. he said
they do have more problems than a DeLorean but if you buy a 76 they operate
much better than the 74's. do any of you on the list own bricklins?
His DeLorean was probably one of the nicest examples out there. It had
only 4,200 miles, black interior, dealer side stripe and a perfect body. I
beleive the vin# was 2348 but not for sure. I took many pictures of it and
will post them in the vault when they get developed. The De Lorean is also
put on a hoiste when not in use to preserve the original tires. I think I
talked him into going to Cleveland! That surely made my day, seeing all of
these rare automobiles in one garage.
Other cars in his collection included Yellow, purple, red,& black
prowlers(4),2 pt cruisers, SLK compressor,VW beetle, 99 VIPER(just
sold),2000
Corvette,87 Fiero with only 30 miles, morgan 3 wheeler and about 30
motorcycles.
just wanted to let you know the first and last bricklins are together and
treated well:)
