Well, I was not asking because I intended on duct taping my kid and 
his seat in the back.  I was asking because I'd seen a picture and 
wondered how this was done and if it is an available system (Safe).  
I don't see how you can dismiss this as dangerous or illegal if 
there is a system in existence.

But your reply is so typical of people these days who believe that 
laws are passed to protect us.  For the most part that is just a 
load of crap.

How is it that you and I have to go to expense and trouble of having 
car seats when kids ride on a school bus (or any mass transit for 
that matter) every day with not even a seat belt.  Car seats do save 
lives but the reason they are required by law has more to do with 
political lobbying than rational thinking.  So the fact that 
something is "illegal" doesn't immediately make it a bad idea.  

A good example of stupid laws that are meant to protect us:  Safety 
fences around swimming pools.  There is a lady in Florida who is 
trying to make these mandatory for everyone in the U.S. who owns a 
pool.  She was already successful in getting the law passed in 
Florida for all new construction.  Funny thing is, more kids die in 
toilets than pools.  250 children a year die in swimming pool 
drowning.  Is it really rational to make 10's of millions of pool 
owners spend thousands of dollars each to protect 250 children? 

A Likely senario is that a person who doesn't watch their kid around 
the pool probably will be too lazy to take the fence down and put it 
back up every time they use the pool.  As with car seats they only 
work when properly used.  Most people don't use them properly 
anyway.  Auto accidents are still the #1 killer of children.

If you really wanted to save children you'd put a fence around your 
toilet, ban the manufacturing of 5 gal buckets and make riding in 
cars illegal for children.  (Many children who are involved in 
serious accidents die regardless of the seat.  Forces in a crash do 
serious brain and cord damage and no seat can prevent this).
