There is no fastener that won't come out with heat but the block and manifold have great thermal mass and it takes a lot of energy to bring it up to temp. A whimpy propane toruch may not do it unless you leave it on there a long time. The reason this works is that when you heat a fastener the entire assembly expands, not just the stud. The nut, bolt and the space between them expand together. Every mechanical engineer is taught this principle in the first year of college. Cooling it will be counterproductive. Yahoo!
