The easiest way to get to it is to remove the centre console so you can get your hands behind the stereo bracket. You may be able to just clean it all up (using Silicone, NOT Vaseline). PJ Grady has a remanufactured replacement. If you're hearing hissing, your engine has a vacuum leak and will not be fuelling correctly. As to your lack of blower power - you may have the problem of the motor spontaneously deciding to spin backwards, which they are prone to doing. NB there are many replacements that will fit, but most spin in the wrong direction out-of-the-box. When on speed 4, you are sticking all 12v across the motor. For it to vary will mean a bad motor, poor connections, or if like mine, you have a Ducellier alternator and it only does it at idle! When it is turned off but the engine is running, I can hear a hissing sound like a leak coming from the unit. If I turn it on, the fan will make plenty blowing noises, and these will vary with changes in fan speed, but absolutely no air will come out the vents, only it will sort of dribble out at the bottom of the windshield. It does change temperature from hot to cold. After reading backissues, it seems to be a bad ac mode switch, would you agree? Where is the ac mode switch and how do I get at it!? Are there any other things I should check for? One other strange thing that happens is that if I have it on fan speed setting 4, sometimes the motor will vary speed all by itself, almost like an engine revving up and down, what is making it do this????? Thanks! John. -------------------------------------------------------------------- mail2web - Check your email from the web at http://mail2web.com/ .
