Re: [DMCForum] Rear view mirror

Hi Jim

The easiest way to REMOVE it is to firmly take hold of the mirror and
push it down/forwards in parallel with the windscreen. This rocks the
mount but makes sure you do not put any pressure or tension on the
screen. I have robbed at least 7 of these mirrors from the scrapyard
over here because they are common-as-muck. Developed quite a knack.

Then go to your local hardware store and buy a can/bottle of denatured
alcohol (we call it methylated spirits over here). Use this to
THOROUGHLY clean both the spot on the windscreen and the rear view
mirror mount. You MUST remove all remnants of any old pad if using a
secondhand mirror. I gave John Hervey several packets of adhesive pads
in Memphis - I doubt he's asking more than a couple of dollars for one.
