Hey Martin, Just saying thanks for the reply. I'm pretty sure the problem in fuel related, but I am no mechanic. I was watching the Garage on discovery last week and they were testing the injectors of an old Jaguar by putting a long screwdriver onto the injector, and putting their ear on the handle of the screwdriver, and listening to the injector to see if it was working. I have a feeling my problem is the metering head, and not just one injector, but I suppose it could be both. The car has a lumpy idle at cold, and sounds like it will stall if it rev it. After it warms up, it revs ok but it feels as if something is holding it back. (possibly one injector) If I took the metering head off, could I soak it in something (paraffin?) to dissolve any contaminates? I would need to drop the fuel pressure in the lines before taking it off, any tricks in doing this? Thanks Martin! I'm afraid it's a "how long is a piece of string" question though. You need to look for vacuum leaks, check the timing's dead on 13 degrees at idle, that the CPR gets vac when cold, that the dizzy gets it when hot, that the vac advance solenoid is plugged in and works correctly (look at your hose routing diagram which should be stuck to your engine cover). If it picks up and drives fine and doesn't have an obvious misfire, just a lumpy idle, then it probably is either a dodgy metering head or one or more injectors. Lumpiness (basically the engine wobbles and misfires occasionally but not every revolution) is quite common and is usually related to an imbalance across the six ports. The metering head and the injectors are working at minimum capacity at idle. It's at the lowest possible flow that problems usually show themselves. I'll talk you through a slightly unorthodox trick I use if you give me a ring at the workshop tomorrow Best Wishes Martin www.delorean.co.uk Thomas Mc Auley wrote: >Hey guys. > > Just realised recently that my engine is not running perfectly. Once it warms up its much better, but still not running right.
