John,
I think this sagging occurs in all DeLoreans because the hardboard 
backing for the carpet is just too thin and soft to bridge the spare 
wheel well especially with luggage on top.
I am going to re-make mine out of some thinker board and new carpet.
The carpet, which I have got, it quite hard wearing, black with a 
slight 'grain', it's the stuff Volkswagen use on their car seats.
I am sure you could get the exact same OEM carpet style if you 
wanted to from any decent upholsterer
£15.00 for 1.5m x 2m sheet
£5 MDF or Hardboard
£2 Adhesive
£22 total.
