Hi Kevin Darren had a new head in his loft ("new" as in planed and with all the valve guides knurled). He convinced us to give it a go and as of yesterday night, the new head is on the car and everythng is going back together (with NEW timing chains) It's just as well we've stripped it down - the engine hasn't exactly been looked after. We've also got a new water pump on it now.
