Well the nights are getting shorter, and the evenings longer. Tonight thanks to the nice weather today, I brough my baby home and had enough time to fit the el cheapo exhaust tips I bought in Halfords today, and give her a wash, and a rub down with meths. The exhaust tips are as simple as you can get - just the same shape as the pipe but with a rounded end. 45mm diameter and £5 each. I can't WAIT to get Mechanoids out of the way so James can help me get the fascias painted. They really let the car down. Does anyone have a match for the paint colour in Halfords range? I have the early lighter shade. I did like the look of the Renault "Xerus" colour which is kind of a dark metallic grey. As James put it - if it doesn't look good you've spent a couple of hours learning to spray paint, and wasted the price of a spray can. Although she's cosmetically still pretty poor - everything's where it should be, the panels all fit nicely, and the number plate still gets comments. I also thought I'd treat her to a tank of Super Unleaded this evening - boy oh boy was the drive home fun! Chris, you have some competition on your hands dear friend! When Chris Hawes came down the other week with Stuart's custom free-flow exhaust, he could only just keep up with me - and I was sticking to under 4000rpm (only 3500 miles remember). Well, with my stock coil, cat and silencer, I let her rip on the way home - and what a rush! There's a distinct power band at 5000rpm where whe picks up and pulls beautifully - and what a racket behind my head! I love my car..... In other news: I've discovered a really helpful Volvo place where after much farting around, we managed to source a brand new water pump for Richard's car (#2727). They have them on the shelf, brand new, for £42. The only downside is you need to buy Darryl's bolt-on pulley www.delorean-parts.com. On the upside, you can get money back on your old pump with pretty much all the parts places (for the pulley). I also asked about the price of manifold gaskets - and get this - £1.16 per side. I know gaskets aren't the most pricey item anyway, but it made me laugh. The company is Braydon Motor Company in London and the website is http://www.volvocarparts.co.uk/ - ask for Bob, Mark or Pitesh. For future reference the DeLorean engine was used in the Volvo 260 NOT the 760. Cheerio Martin #1458 (currently ticking and twanging away quietly outside as she cools down)
