This is a bit of a grey area. Some MOT stations (including mine) will
pass the car without side indicators. Others will not. If the car
requires type approval for initial registration, they are required.
Purely from a practical standpoint, I'd prefer to have mine blink too.
The easiest way of doing it is to earth the front marker on the +ve
connection to the front indicator. When your headlights are off, the
side marker will flash in time with the indicator. When the lights are
on, they flash the opposite way to the indicator (ie when the
indicator's on the side marker goes off). There's a video of Mark
Bourne's old car at the Ally Pally which shows how they operate. It's on
