Hi Robert,
Thanks for the update, its good to have someone there with his 'finger on
the pulse'. All these rumours are misleading.
Why don't we lobby the Govt a bit more. There is potential to create a local
Park there for the "2 Communities!" Are they reasonably sensible in that
part of Belfast? It could be themed with paths/cycle-way on the track.
Every-so-often a seating area with DeLorean brass info boards (vandal proof
of course). It is quite mature parkland now so more difficult for a
Developer to clear.
Maybe a Friendly-drive in Belfast in June would highlight the issue for the
Press ... or do you think keeping it quiet is better? I think theres nothing
wrong with highlighting a point, we are not 'attacking' anyone, just putting
forward for consideration a "Proposal for the good of Tourism/Community!" If
we don't, chances are it will go un-noticed and disappear? Is the land Govt
or Private owned?
I don't mind putting together a few sketches of what the "DeLorean Themed
Park" might look like. Have you seen the letter I sent the Mayor in 2001? It
outlined a few opportunities I saw for the Track as an Architect/Urban
Designer.
Cheers, IAN

Subject: [doc] FACTORY - GOOD NEWS
Following on from Alistair's email I contacted a senior executive at the
factory this morning and the following is fact;
1. The small area under development in the factory was sold two years ago
and industrial units are being built there.
2. The old training building was demolished, not the emissions building.
(The training building was ready to fall down anyway it was in such a bad
state
and posed a safety risk.)
3. There are no plans to dig up the test track which is located at the far
end of the factory and everyone is looking forward to celebrating the 25th
anniversary of the car during Eurofest 2006 (25th to 28thMay, 2006).
Hope this clears up the situation.

I am doing some construction work on the former DMC factory site,

noticed the earth movers over by the former emmisions shed and test

The whole emmisions building is gone!!! demolished yesterday with
the test track supposedly going in the next few months.
