i bet you any money you have had the throttle plates swapped from a volvo one and these do not have the poppet valves fitted so on the over-run the engine overfuels. try seating the brass screws, then unscrewing the 2 nearest the W pipe 12 flats (2 turns). Then, run the engine to normal temperature then unscrew the back one (nearest the metering flap) open until the engine revs just increase then back it off 1.5 flats. This should give more air bypass round the throttle plate instead of just through the idle speed motor. Give it a go, this is how I set the engines so that the idle oscillation is minimised. Glad your car didn't go up in flames! NickT. Timing adjustment hasnt got rid of the backfiring and flames, but there is another theory that will be explored (Rich can explain better then me). As for the suntan.....yes coming on a treat (despite being Mrs Radish Head last night) and no I'm not gonna show you my 'white bits' lol :o) Cheers, Claire #2292 DOC170 --- In doc-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx, "Mike Bosworth" <mike.bosworth@...> wrote: > > EEK! > > Thats a lucky escape, and its one of the reasons why i changed out > my fuel hoses in there for a new set , mine all looked rather baked > and cracked on the 25 yr old rubber parts of the hoses, but > obviously on your 3 year old new ones its not something you would > have expected to have to check or replace. > > Hope the timing adjustment has now sorted out your 'flame throwing' > problem .... unless it was actually origionaly coming from your > petrol covered exhaust manifold ;-) > > Lovely weather you have had for your 2 shows this weekend bet you > are all nicely tanned now :)! > > Regards > > Mike > > #2001 HEC6T > 403 > Send instant messages to your online friends http://uk.messenger.yahoo.com [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] ------------------------ Yahoo!
