I'll reply on-list as it's probably worth noting for people who don't 
already realise:

They're no less reliable than the hoses on the rest of the car, it's 
just that they're tough to get to and the large one is a unique size on 
the whole car. The elbow pipes are also a challenge to source other than 
going to Renault (which fit badly) or Volvo (never tried theirs!). We 
then add all-stainless hose clips.
