This message was originaly designed for the DML, but I decided to
post it here as well. Any ideas or comments, email at

Dear DML.
I have been wanting a DeLorean now for many many years. Altimatly
there are two choices in which a person can obtain one. Buy a used
one of almost unknown condition or pay an outlandish amount for a
refurbished one (Actualy i think its quite reasonible).
There is a third almost unthinkible way to get a DeLorean. I propse
to build a DeLorean out of parts from DeLorean venders, such as
Huston, PG Grady and others. I know the expense of this could easily
exceed 50 grand, but just think of it, a totaly new DeLorean!
My question to the DML, can something like this be done? As we all
know, most parts exist for our beloved cars. As to being fesible, I
think it is. Practical, not really. Actualy, I dont car about these
two items. The main concern to me is will a DeLorean (all with
original parts) manufactured 20 years after the factory closed, be
recognized as a true DeLorean, or rather as a flaky kit cart with
absolutly no meaning, and be laughed at when I bring it to Memphis
years from now.
To me, this would be the ultimate dream. I know many of you owners
have restored your D's from pretty bad sistuations, but everything to
make this car would be from boxes, except maby a frame. Are these
availible? I heard of a stainless frame.
Anyway, email your comments and ideas to me at
treehouse2000us@xxxx or list them here. I do think this is an
appropriate topic if we keep our heads on the level. Why isnt
building a DeLorean from parts possible? What do you think they did
at the factory?
In conclusion, what would the Department of Motor vehicals think of
this? What would be the classification of such a car? Salvage?
Parts Car? At least it would be the only Delorean manufactured
without gremlings.
The confused philospher
