Hello everyone! Here I come with another very technical question. What is the preferred method of coating a frame? Here are the choices I have and I don’t know what to do.I would like to have the frame zinc coated but then I was asked how I want it done. It can be dipped in a molten zinc giving a thick and strong layer. Another way is electro plating the zinc onto the frame.Pro:Hot dip – thick layer, good protection, gets into all little nooks and crannies.Electro plating – Thin layer doesn’t affect bolt threads, adds very little weightCons:Hot dip – thick layer, increases the weight of frame, a lot will remain in all enclosed spacesElectro plating – doesn’t last as long, doesn’t coat inside enclosed spacesZinc coating is fairly inexpensive and I’d like to do it. I can also have the frame powder coated to increase the protection even further. What do you guys think? Should I go with the dip process or electro plating? I was thinking about electro plating + powder coating.I’d appreciate any input. Thanks.
