Bill, please could you take the time to answer the following two questions.
- Did you ever try running your wider gapped plugs with the stock coil?
- Did the engine ever run badly with a healthy OEM ignition system and
seen to be *fixed* with HEI?
I'm not trying to pick a fight, I appreciate you kept your post to the
facts, and if the answer to either of the above is a "yes", I'll shut
up. I'm sure owners out there may well be interested in upgrading.
Personally "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". Ignition isn't like
suspension or electrics - if it's working to begin with, there's not a
lot you can do to make it work "better". My own experience of
"performance ignition" was a turbo engine that just wouldn't take boost
till I switched back to an original Bosch coil. Maybe I was doing
something wrong.
