Yes, and alternative fuel cars will probably still be subsidized by politicians who think "green" is better than efficiency, regardless of cost, and taxed by politicians who think short term spending (aka "job creation") is better than efficiency, regardless of cost. With taxes, you can have the worst of both worlds. :-p

And you can bet your butt that as soon as something becomes a mainstream fuel,
it will be taxed. Just like gasoline.
