Bryan obviously used those rubber bushings for noise/vibration isolation. The thin washers are likely for rear end alignment.
If you look closely at this pic you can see the hex head of a bolt (cap screw...) that passes through the whole assembly:

Bryan appears to have simply stuck a little piece of drill rod through the off car assembly to take the other pics.
