Only an eternal optimist would call a stock DeLorean "fast."

There are a few things that can be done relatively easily and inexpensively to make a DeLorean less slow:
- Freer flowing exhaust
- Freer flowing intake 
- Slightly richer than stoich fuel metering
- Higher voltage ignition / larger plug gaps
- More aggressive spark advance
