When ever the discussion topic surfaces as to what happened to John Delorean and why....my mind always goes to the question as to what power influences had the most lose had he succeeded and what powerful influences had the most to gain by his demise. Had John Delorean succeeded even to a modest degree then the Detroit establishment likely would have been forced to make sweeping changes in the automotive business model that dominated the industry at that time as numerous innovative start ups would have been encouraged. If Detroit (manufacturers and unions) would have embraced difficult changes back in the early 80s the american automotive industry may have been able to avoid much of the market share loss that it has later enjoyed.
