[DML] accelerator cable

I'm curious to know if my accelerator cable is working correctly.  It seems pretty stiff and hard on the foot.  Since this is the only DeLorean I have driven, I have nothing to compare it to.  If this is normal, I might hook up a servo system in replacement for the cable.  Has anyone done this?  Any help would be very appreciated.
