[DML] Re: Fuel accumulator question

There is no step-by-step procedure in the Workshop Manual to replace the accumulator. It is an easy R & R except for the restricted access. It can only be accessed from underneath through a small hole in the backbone of the frame. The BIG danger besides the obvious one of flamability is that you MUST NOT damage the fuel lines. If you twist or kink them the only way to replace them is to raise the frame. So only use the correct-fitting wrenches and take care to "hold back" and not twist the rigid fuel lines. You may want to replace the short, flexible line. Use eye protection. Some fuel will leak down but it will stop. Most can be caught with shop rags. When done check carefully for leaks. There can be NONE!

When replacing it are there checkvalves and such that limit the amount of spillage form the tank or will the amount of spillage have to be controlled by speedy clamping and such of the removed lines? Of the 3 lines to the accumulator, which are the ones (if any) that have the primary spillage problem?
