Ok then, I must have been mistaken about the Silver plugs then. But I definitely remember you posting about the Platinums and even seeing the very same problem for myself (I installed them before I heard, and pulled them out later). My old mechanic that I went to had seen the problem himself with other cars in the past as well as lots of other gimmick plugs, and made it a policy with all tune-ups to always reset the cars back to spec with the original plugs that they required per the vehicle's Shop Manual. Not only was it guaranteed to get the cars up and running reliably and also properly to pass emissions, but it was also cheaper on the final repair invoice. As for my experience, I've had better luck smoothing out idles and easing cold starts by adding a bottle of Techron every so often than I've had with expensive Spark Plugs. So I personally can't justify the cost. Have you yourself seen any advantages with BOSCH Silver plugs over Copper ones? -Robert vin 6585 "X" --- In dmcnews@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx, <rob@...> wrote: > > Robert etc, > > > > I have NEVER had the leaking insulator problem with either SILVER (surprised > that your mechanic's had problems with those) OR COPPER plugs but it is very > common with the standard platinum plugs.
