The DMCH Nology setup is the best ignition performance kit I have run across for the DeLorean. I am sure there are exceptions as I haven't tried all possible combinations but, I have tried a lot. The next best in my opinion is OEM - with the SILVER spark plugs. I think the reason most spark systems do not perform is that they are not serviced adequately. The distributor spark advance systems need to function correctly and many have never serviced the spark advance system. Spark plug wires need to be handled correctly upon installation AND espically removal to prevent damage. I think many folks suspect ignition problems when the problem is the fuel system or intake problems. Both systems need to be working correctly. Unfortunately it takes some proper tools but, most are not high tech and not expensive. Simple mechanical gauges and analog electrical tools will be adequate to check the systems. Also, handling the spark wires with care when removing and installing them is critical as damage will cause poor spark or other issues. The position of the distributor allows for moisture to enter the distributor while driving in rain at speed. Especially in a 5 speed. The air draft pushes the rain water up against the the bottom of the distributor cap. You need to put a small bead of silicone gasket maker around the cap maiting surface to stop this. Also, the spark plug wells need to be dry and so, the spark plug boots need to be installed properly to assure an adequate seal to keep out any moisture. I'm looking at John's 25,000 volt Bosch coil [as an upgrade?] since I doubt the stock one has that much punch to it. I have +4 plugs that are a little old but few miles and are still in good shape; also Johns 8mm wires and upgraded resistor. I once used the blaster coil with my setup but I remember having problems with it - I believe it was melted distributor rotor but can't remember correctly. Nonetheless, with what I have as far as plugs, wires and resister; which coil should I be going after? My engine runs like garbage when it rains, and when it is dry it sputters at stops from time to time and just doesn't feel "right".
