It really has to do with the fact that the majority of the population drive/prefer automatics...and are easier to sell than a Standard shift..in the past when I sold off any cars...the standard shifts were always a harder sell...then the Automatics...even when it came to cars such as Corvettes or Trans-Am's,it took a far greater time to get a buyer.
With a car such as a Delorean...with 130hp...it just "seems" less labor intensive to get that 130hp up to speed with a automatic...I know..a automatic sports car is not really a "sports car" but the Delorean was meant to be a "gentleman's" car to take to the Country Club(that was the REAL reason for that space behind the seats..it was meant to fit a bag of Golf clubs)and show the world that you were your own man and made your own path..by driving a totally different type of car from the rest..and the SS exterior and the Gullwing doors made that Bold statement.(in that time era)
You had to drive/own a Delorean in that time era to know/understand...JZD's Concept about the car... I did...
Today it is either looked at as a Classic or as a part of a Movie trilogy...not the same thing..
