Hi John,
You can get M5 rivnuts with a ribbed surface - this will dig into the
fiberglass slightly and prevent it from slipping under (reasonable) torque.
Also, you can substitute stainless steel machine screws to prevent them from
rusting in the future, granted, the only ones I found were pan head, not
truss head, but they still work in the application - it beats rusting, IMO.
Check Fastenal or McMaster-Carr.
