Keep in mind that DeLorean's "Red Rocket" was built from a Fiat X1/9.
The gentleman at the Fiat show was probably referring to that.  His car
really *does* have a relationship to DeLorean history.

Of course the X1/9 was a Bertone design, not Giugiaro, so any styling
relationship may be cosmetic at best.
