AW: [DML] Re: Spares info/Wings Aloft/door latch mod

with a diode and a resistor and a wire between the door lock module and
the white delay module the power locks can be disabled as long as the
interior light is on.
I built and offered this more than 5 years ago here on the list but
nobody cared back then.

I invented this because every time my buddy sat in the car and wanted
to open the door he locked it instead of pulling the lever. of course
my door was already open and so the force of the solenoid was always
bending the rods...I just couldn't hear it anymore without feeling sorry

for my poor car... :-)

I've always had a crazy notion that if one were electronically inclined,
it'd be possible to use the door light switches (assuming that they work
properly and shut off when the doors are closed like they're supposed
to) to disable the lock module when the switches are closed. Maybe
intentionally short the power to the whole module when the switches are
closed (doors open)? I get the feeling that a couple of relays would be
all that it would take.

It's one of those things that I've been wanting to investigate in
earnest (a non-running car lends itself to this kind of project), but
circuitry is not always intuitive for me. Given my Medusa-like relay
compartment, I'm not ready to experiment either.

Thoughts, anyone?

Oh, and chalk up another "ears perked up and listening" post for this
topic.
