Greetings from T-Town. I have installed Amsoil oil, filter, & tranny oil in my DeLorean, which was done quite some time ago. Designed by a jet-fighter jock in the late '50's, it is the original synthetic oil. A tad expensive, but with a change interval of 25,000-30,000 miles, it really is less expensive in the long run. I grew up using 10W-40, because Dad used it (he was a Mechanical Engineer). Checking the Temp./Viscosity chart in the DMC's owner's manual, I noticed that 10W-40 fell in the proper use range. Could've gotten by with 10W-30, but force of habit. "Heavy Duty Gear Lube" 80W is in the 5-speed tranny. Anything I can do to make things more slippery & last longer is a good thing. I'm also saving my pennies for an Amsoil air filter; pretty much lifetime use for that. Amsoil 10W-40 is also in my '38 Buick. NO NO NO to Slick 50. PTFE (Teflon) is great for keeping your fried eggs from sticking to the pan, but NEVER in a crank case. Drive Stainless and Slippery! Robert VIN 6924
