In the spirit of disclosing some "real" numbers for people to think 
about, consider this...

Gullwing Magazine had between 100 and 130 subscribers for each year of 
our three year run.  My goal was 500... that would have put us at a 
point of small profits.

We had no agenda to answer to... no parts to sell, no car show to sell, 
no DOA type stuff to sell.  We were free of any of those influences.  
But that also meant we had to totally rely on subscriptions and 
advertisers to back it up.  Our community of advertisers was great.. 
they all stepped up to the plate.  But the cost of producing only a 100 
magazines was still staggering.

We set up a booth at the DCS in Gettysburg and worked it all day long 
to boost subscriptions.... the end result.... not one single new 
subscriber!

We then tried to supplement the magazine with a yearly calendar.  I 
thought that would be great... surely everyone could afford and would 
buy a $12 calendar.  NOT!  The most shipped over three years.... 50.

Im not bitter or upset... we got out when we couldnt make it work and 
it was costing me money.  The experience was great and we enjoyed doing 
every issue... but it is definately not a cakewalk.
