John,
I'm not sure anyone fully answered your rheostat question, so I will give it my best explanation. If you look at the prongs on the rheostat, you will see four connectors, but they are tied together in two pairs. When you reconnect the wires, just make sure the two red/orange connectors are attached to the same connector pair. The red wire connector goes to the other pair. The rheostat is nothing more than a variable resistor that you can change the resistance to the circuit with. Hence, full power in on one side, variable power out on the other. Hope this is clear.

Anyone know which wires hook up to the rheostat?
I got a new shift plate and forgot in which order the three wires go to. Red, red/Orange and so on. There are four places for the three wires.
