The red/white wire controls the brightness of instruments illumination
and runs to GND through the lamps in the instruments panel.
The purple/orange wires are to the clock, main light switch, relay 53
(panel illum), fuse 8, hazard switch.
Use a multimeter to determine what goes where and you'll probably never
forget it again.
Best check the red/white first, that's the single one on the rheostat
pins. The others are grouped on the other pins.
