Thanks, Marc! What I was wondering was: is the throttle cable inside a single sheath, or was there a join somewhere that would screw me up? As I don't have the manuals with me I do not know the exact routing of the cable, hence I didn't know if simply shoving it one end and waiting for it to come out the other would be easy enough for me to do on my own. I will simply buy the longest throttle cable I can find and snip it where appropriate. (My Jewish girlfriend could probably make a joke there, but I won't.) As for anyone hating me, I was being sarcastic, albeit not successfully -- probably because I was in a state of half-panic -- I have to hit the road tomorrow, otherwise I won't be at work on time Wednesday. :P Actually, anyone who has commented on the fact that I put a carburetor on the car has been very polite about it. I suppose I get the same sort of comments about being stupid enough to buy an automatic since I will get "no performance," et cetera -- most of them from people who seemed to be just ribbing me friendly-like. My car looked so bad that I didn't put it inside at DCS, besides which I was a day late because the conversion was rained out on Wednesday among other complications, so probably the few people I know didn't even know I was there anyhow. James Espey said that I "should have known better than to listen to Bill Robertson." -- I don't know what he meant by that, but I doubt a vendor would ever say such a thing mean-spiritedly. Rick Gendreau looked at my car and thought it was maybe a decent job for having been done in an hour and a half. I will be able to clean it up fairly well over the next couple of years, although I am not really a "car show" person so I may or may not be at another DCS in the future. Time will tell. Thanks for the throttle help! If it can be done on the side of the road, then it can be done swiftly by myself before I hit the road tomorrow, which is what I needed to know!
