Today, I took the alternator/generator assembly from the automatic
transmission and handed it to my wife who is a mechanical engineer. I
asked her "How would you take that apart?" She looked it over for a
moment and pointed to a seam between where the drive shaft is and the
housing and said "Pry it there, the two pieces of plastic are
different.. you can see where there's a seam"
I took it into the garage and clamped it into a vice just enough to
hold it. I grabbed the body of the housing and gave it a good twist
and wouldn't you know, the whole generator assembly came out. I posted
a bunch of photos in the photos section under "Take Apart Automatic
trans alternator" I hope this helps others. Thanks again for all the
great info from everyone here!
