Hello Dick. I remember getting into this a while back. I did say for
normal street driving. Anyway if you look in the Workshop Manual
L:12:01 it does give tire pressures for High Speed driving. 29 front
and 34 rear. I guess they mean sustained high speeds WAY in excess of
65 MPH. This is NOT normal street driving. Unless you have a "Z" rated
tire I don't know if you would want to go that high. You certainly
would not want to hit a pothole either! To be completely clear, in
1982 there was no speed rating system like we have today. And I would
assume these pressures are for speeds approaching 100 MPH. I also
guess where you live you can actually drive like that! You lucky dog!
Anyway you are actually validating my suggestion to stay within 2 psi
of the recommended pressures.
