You can't really compare public transportation in the US to Europe or anywhere else. Our public transportation systems stink and are poorly connected, overpriced, inconvienient, etc Thanks to oil companies, and our desire to "individually express ouselves", most of the mass transit was done away with in the 1950s and decades that followed. But hey...
