Thanks, Bill, for an informative answer! Also for the nice additions to
the "files" portion of the YGroups site. There's not as much helpful
info in the workshop manual, although curiously it does mention a higher
idle speed than those Volvo pages you scanned in...
What was called "Stage II Exhaust" a year or two ago is now called
"Stage I" as it involves no engine upgrade. As for oxygen sensor, I
imagine so but I will have a look. If I get home before dark tonight,
I'll try to take some pictures.

P.S.: My car qualifies as "antique" in the state of Louisiana. Not sure
if that allows me any emissions freedom or not. I will have to look it up.
