I first started using DOT 5 brake fluid when I rebuilt a 1970 MGB 1989 and have used it regularly on other cars I have restored.(53 TD, 77 280 Z, 1960 MGA. and now in a 1975 Bricklin.) It is non-corrosive and does not attract moisture. When I took of the master cylinder and brake proportioning valve they were badly pitted, gummed up and full of all kinds of crap. With DOT 5 that does not occur. Another good point for DOT 5 is that it does not harm paint. Almost every car I have restored has had some serious rusting under neath the brake master cylinder where DOT 3 has spilled. I've never heard of a spongy pedal because of using DOT 5.. I'll stay with DOT 5 Roy 0893 ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com.
