[DML] actual door opening clearance

OK, I'm trying to convince people on another forum the actual door opening
clearance needed for a Delorean.

Sometimes I've heard it's 11", others 12" and sometimes 18".

which one is it, and from where is such clearance measured?

Does anyone have a photo of a Delorean with the semi-circle of the door
clearance arc superimposed I can use for demonstration purposes?
