[DML] Newbie to DeLoreans

I am looking at purchasing an 81 DeLorean in what is described as very
good original condition, about 30k miles, garaged all its life.  It
has the wide side stripe, is this original and/or desirable?  What are
the weak points and pitfalls to look for when purchasing?
