give me advice as to what could have gone wrong? ( it was working
fine all day) Did the clutch go out or could it be a linkage
problem? All help will be most appreciated.
Ed - The first thing to do is to check the clutch fluid level to make
sure that you still have some in the reservoir, and have not
introduced air into the system. If you are low on fluid, you should
check for leakage of the master cylinder. To do this, you look under
the dash near the brake pedal. You will see the clutch linkage rod
going into the end of the master cylinder. If the master cylinder
has failed, you should see fluid leaks into the carpet under the end
of the master cylinder. Also check the condition of the hose that
connects the master cylinder to the reservoir. You can do this from
below. You might see fluid "sweating" through the hose. If so, the
hose has failed. Do you have the original plastic clutch line, or
the upgraded S/S braided line? Plastic is bad in this application.
In any event, if the fluid has leaked down and air has gotten into
the clutch hydraulic system, you must correct the fault, and then
fill and bleed the system. Let us know what you find.
