Hello Harold,
The only transaxle seal repair that we?ve found fairly consistent success
with is using OEM seals (NOS style) with stainless sleeves. The sleeve
provides a slightly larger O.D. which tends to compensate for flange
movement because it not only supports the differential spider gear but also
has to contend with C.V. shaft loads. The sleeve also smoothes the flange
surface which tends to rust and groove over time. When installing these
sleeves there are a few things to be aware of. First apply a non-hardening
sealant to the flange surface. Second install the sleeve on the flange in a
press or vise (no hammers please) and be sure to start it straight or it
will distort. Additionally it is important to put the seal in the case
straight using a suitable tool or socket (New o-rings are sometimes
necessary) . If you?re still having leakage perhaps one of these procedures
might help.

I have replaced dozens of seals with no problem but, I recently did a
similar routine to MY differential (an auto) and now it leaks all the
time.
