Sorry I'm coming in on this thread halfway through - I've been off e-mail for a week or so. I agree with Rob, but then I would given the availability of PRVs in the UK! I've just sorted out my funding for a set of pistons and will build my 3 litre turbo if it kills me.... I stalled because Renault no longer have any A610 or Safrane BiTurbo pistons. I'd just like to say that figures are so easy to throw around.... 650hp? No way. That's just waaaay too powerful for a DeLorean. A standard DeLorean puts out around 90hp at the wheels. The Alpine I did the ECU on pushed 254hp at the wheels. I decided then and there that that kind of power (and torque - 360ft-lbs) was way in excess of what would be safe and usable in a DeLorean, without uprating the brakes and suspension. The DeLorean was heavily based on the Alpine A310 - only 3 cars carried the 5 speed 369 transmission - and the other was the Renault 30, a front-engined executive barge. All had PRVs. So although the engine probably had more to do with being able to source a transaxle suitable for rear mounting *without* going to Porsche, the PRV is very much a part of the DeLorean and I like to think that a genuinely uprated PRV will add to the value of the car, especially as one can be fitted with no modifications to frame or underbody, and can be pulled back out just as easily. The pain is that the *engine* is the easy bit. If going the turbo route, it's everything else that costs the money!
